OKOKOKOKOK!!!!!!!! Check me out!!! I done good ladies and germs!!! I got a (relatively) clean bill of health today...That makes two (count em 2) VW specialists who've told me I got myself a good little westy...Despite the fact that it's an 84 automatic... The compression is good, doesn't overheat at all, tranny is good, a/c sucks (=P) , but the tires are brand new and decent ones, there's very little rust, runs like a charm (except for that nagging little on again off again misfiring, which I'm blaming on vanagon syndrome, and considering getting that harness thingee). The starter seems worn, especially when the engine's warm, which is something I've read on a list somewhere, so I'm not sure about that, but I think I'll replace the starter to .. uh..start... What else? Need c/v boots, the left rear shock is leaking, and I think I'll replace all four... Need new shocks for the rear door. And probably a master cylinder for the brakes... But that's really it. Engine is good. Recent valve job that was done well. I crossed my fingers and my legs and (for now) I have finally given myself permission to be REALLY EXCITED!!!!! I HAVE A NEW CAMPER!!! AND IT'S A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYYA!!!! (Thank you oh vanagon goddess for the good compression check) Feel free to continue sending any tips or suggestions my way (for as long as I live). THANK YOU all for all the kind email you've sent me so far. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY GIRL HERE!!! (can't wait to get greasy!!) Peace.. :o) Kristin |
