Steve, of course the unloaded length is shorter with the spacer in because you've compressed the darn spring in a topped out suspension. in my post, i said measure the length of the spring WHEN LOADED, without and then with the spacer. Loaded is the relevant case here. measuring the lengths unloaded really doesn't prove anything except that yeah you've inserted a spacer in a topped out suspension and compressed the spring a bit.
