A week ago, I had an experience similar to Dave's. Without getting into a lot of anecdotal detail, a Nissan P/U rear ended me (while we were both moving through a right turn) with probably 5-10 MPH speed differential.

Cracked my fiberglas bumper and dinged the sheet metal between the license plate and tail light. Caved in the right front of the Nissan - headlights looking at the ground, leading edge of the fender within an inch of the tire; fender bowed out severely over the tire.

After sizing up the damage and apologizing, the guy says, "I guess I should have bought a Volkswagen."
