Subject: coolant temp send wire
Comments: To: Vanagon@Vanagon.com

Howdy, volks. I recently replaced the exhaust manifold on my 86 Syncro and in doing so, I removed part of the cooling system to make room to work. Finishing with the repairs, I'm looking around the engine compartment to see if I've put everything back in place and I found this red/yellow wire hanging loose. This would be "currant track 70" page 97.92 in the Bentley. The problem is I cannot find any place to plug this wire in, and without it, of course, I have no coolant temp. gauge. I've been looking for hours, even looked in my Carat to try to find a matching wire to follow to see where it goes, but the Carat doesn't seem to have this same wire. This yellow/red wire goes into it's own cover and then is bundled with others that go into the black box mounted on the left fire wall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've run the engine for at least an hour, burping and all and the needle doesn't even move a hair.
