What i've done with the ugly faded yellow strip on the window trim is paint it black. Two coats of flat black paint seems to have done the trick. I painted it about a year ago and the paint has held well. The sun along with many car washes has not removed any paint. This is a lot cheaper and less time consuming than replacing the window trim. I recommend a small foam brush for the painting. It is also nice to get rid of those faded front gutter rails. These rails were on vanagons until 1989 when they were replaced with black rails. If you can find an 89-91 van in a junkyard they probably haven't been removed. Pull off the rail from the top first and be careful not to bend them much because they may snap.
