Hello, Just got back from a 4500 mile road trip in my vanagon. Haven't changed the oil yet! EEKS! I hope Mobil 1 synthetic is good for that long. Well anyways, the trip was good. Me and a friend drove from San Diego, CA up to Banff in Canada, then crossed over through canada to the west coast to vancouver, and then came down the coast back home. We hit most of the places on the route that we took. There was one unfortunate thing, the clutch went out, not the whole clutch, the throw out bearing somehow fell off the swing and managed to seize itself on the guide shaft, melting the plastic inner ring. It was weird, I applied the clutch, it went down all the way reallly easy and then I let it up and then when I tried to push it down again it stopped still after about an inch of travel! Oh well, we were in pocatello, idaho/utah? and luckily there was one shop intown that fixed wb vans. Costed me $262 for a new pplate, disc and bearing and the labor to install, oh yeah a few of those bolts that hold the cvs to the output shaft stripped and I had to replace those too. Anyways on to my problem, the gas pedal seems to be sticky and it takes a bit of effort to apply initially, is there a way to lube it or is there a place where itis binding, I haven't looked yet. Please let me know any possible places where this can happen from people who have had problems before. Thanks, Joe |
