Hi Volks:

I'm trying to help a friend start his Vanagon. It was sitting in a garage for about a year and a half. We just put in a new battery and turned the key to check the gas. It was empty (evaporated and left gum I suspect) but when put into storage had a 3/4 tank with Stabil added. After adding about 3 1/2 gal of gas, it doesn't start - not even a sputter. I didn't have time to check but will tomorrow: check if there's spark, and then pull one of the fuel injectors to see if fuel is getting through. The electric fuel pump makes it usual buzz when the ignition is switched on. Any thoughts on what to check for after a vehicle has been sitting a long time and won't start? Or has anyone experienced a similar problem?
