If it's similar to my Jetta, mileage will only vary about 15-20% between
"leadfooted" and "granny" style driving... (I get from 52 to 60 mpg on my 85 TD
Jetta)

Yes, this would be interesting to know. Also would like to know if this will
help keep oil temps down. If you don't already have an oil temp or pressure
gauge, I'd recommend it. My TD heats up real quick on hills, causing a
noticeable drop in oil pressure within about a minute of climbing. Since
everything is uphill in a bus, this is even more reason to watch the temps...
