Howdy volks, Another newbie here. 4 year owner of an '86 Westy. This list is great. Had I known about it a year ago I would have a few more dollars in the bank. I got a little ambitious with fixing it myself and ended up chucking my 106 K 2.1 liter engine for a factory rebuild. I have about 5000 on the rebuild and have had the same oil light and buzzer problem as mentioned in earlier posts to the list. The oil pressure light and buzzer comes on, usually after highway driving when slowing down for a stop or a slower speed zone. A push on the clutch and a rev of the engine silences it until the next stop. It rarely, if ever, happens when driving in town and isn't a problem when idling. I don't have a tach on the dash, just the stupid clock, but I would estimate the problem occurs between 2000-3000 rpm. I ran the wiring tests for the .3 and .9 bar switches as indicated in the Bentley and the wiring to the dash tests OK. I have replaced the .9 bar switch to no avail. Going to 20W50 from 10W40 silenced the buzzer for night time drives but in the heat of a summer day she hit me again, as she usually does, when slowing to pass through Moundville, AL(Joel Walker should know this place.)

Can the voltage regulator effect the performance of the dynamic oil pressure sensing unit?

I am suspecting a faulty dynamic oil pressure sensing unit but the voltage regulator is probably cheaper.

What do y'all think? Thanks volks,
