Yes, you hear the horror stories, and some are true. And any time you buy a vehicle, new or used there is the reisk of problems. And granted, if you buy a used machine, the likelyhood of problems is greater. And on a list like this, trouble stories seem to concentrate, because if there is a problem, there is enough combined experience among the members to generally probive a solution. Fact is, I've got over 200,000 miles on my 85 GL. And only recently have I had the need to do anything beyond the routine maintenance that any machine requires. I' m happy!!!

I personally would run, not walk, from a water cooled engine since they have a terrible history. But you might get lucky with an '85, then again you might not. Maybe some of the '85s on the list could remark on them. Good luck...
