Hi Scott!

Sounds ībout like the problems I have with my -88!It started with a light "frrrrrr" every time I hit a bump , I was absolutely sure that it had to do with the metalplate, covering the battery.Furthermore so since I heard it more when having a frontseat passenger. But it grew worse, and finally it didnīt help to crank up the stereo anymore so I crawled in under the bus, asking a few friends to jump the thing up and down . It turned out to be the rubber/metal bushings on the upper wishbone, for the time being Iīm surpassing the replacement by spraying them with WD 40 or some graphite oil every 250 miles or so ( depending on the weather conditions) but I know Iīll end up changing them soon! My suggestion will be : Try to soak those bushings with some kind of lube and check out if the sound will vanish for a couple of days, then youīll know if thatīs your problem too ;)

Good luck Calle -88 Vanagon Mullhyttan, Sweden
