two things:

Once I replaced the main seal in a rabbit. The dealer wanted like $40. A FLAP wanted about $8. Put in the $8 one. On the way to work the next monday clutch started to slip. Yes it was the seal. The next weekend I put in the $40 dealer seal.

Once I did the front wheel bearings in a syncro. They have extra seals, alot like engine rear main seals. Got some grease where the seal seats. Seal spun with the hub. Syncro front wheel bearings are destroyed after each removal. Had to buy a new bearing. Again. $$$$$

Replace the seal with the highest quality one you can find. Make sure the place where the seal goes is clean of oil. Use some kind of sealant/adhesive to stick the seal in place.

Also make sure that the area that the seal rubs against on the flywheel is smooth. If not it will eat any seal no matter how expensive or well installed.....
