Ron, I asked my insurance broker the same thing. They said to get a professional appraiser to quote a value/price/whatever. This appraisal is then submitted to the insurance company and they will increase the coverage and your premium accordingly. Such appraisals cost about $C125 and the insurance company insists that they be done annually. However, I've heard that the annual appraisal is not required in practice (if it was worth so much two years ago, how much could it of depreciated since then?) I have not yet had our '86 Syncro Westfalia appraised for the simple fact that I don't know a professional appraiser who knows these vehicles beyond looking them up in some book. I think that the appraiser would have to be someone in Ontario in order to set a local value. Perhaps you could ask the OWASCO people who they would recommend.

Is there anyone else on the List who can recommend a knowledgeable (i.e. Vanagon Westfalia) appraiser and/or has had their vehicle appraised?
