This style of connection is called a "pad mount". I suppose caus it just has two "pads" where the connectors rest and no threaded connectors.

Since different auto makers prefer different connectors (for whatever reason) AC compressor makers use a common compressor body and a variety of "heads" where the connectors attach. The same body might be used with several different heads.

Kyle and Ron should tell their suppliers that they need the "pad" style connections when they order the compressors.
