I just tore down an engine on a 74 Westy. Third set of owners, but in the family since new. No major overhauls. 145,000 miles. Bearings like new. Cylinders fine. Rings pretty good. But the valve guides on one cylinder were pouring oil into the chamber, which is why it's on the bench. Never seen an engine with so little wear at that mileage. They just use 30 wt. oil - nothing special. |
