The regular film is pretty clear, despite the mylar and glue layers. The static cling stuff is thicker, and does not seem as clear. This is probably not a big issue, and the stuff is really easy to install. It does stretch some, and this allows it to fit on curved windows (like the rear hatch window) much better. My bit has stretched too much in a few spots and I have bubbles that won't go away. It is worth a try, and is a good choice in places where tinting is not legal, as you can pull it off easily. It tends to not go back on all that well in my experience, though. Getting the windows clean is very nearly as important for this stuff, as is care in fitting it (for good looks). Since this is the major effort on the regular film, you don't save much except on curved places. Which is why I have it on the windshield top... Malcolm |
