I carry my 17 month old daughter in a child seat placed in the middle of the back seat, facing forward, in my 7 passenger syncro. I did have it there facing backward untill she was about 13 months old. I usually don’t have the middle bench seat in, so there is lots of room in front of the child seat to place her in and to tend to her or change diapers, etc. Also, she has good forward visibility so she can see her mom & dad and look out the front or sides to take in the sights. She seem to like riding this way and can take some fairly long drives. One thing I did to make the child seat secure so it dos’nt flop around is to clip the seat belt through the seat as tight as possible, then I laced a nylon cam type strap throught the front of the child seat and under the rear seat so that the child seat did not bounce up, or “hinge“ on the seat belt.
