Thanks for everyone that sent me thier way to take the heads off. I tried a few with no luck (these things were fried on good). My father and I came up with our own way. We used a small chisel as a wedge between the cylinder ears and the head (on the top side). We tapped the chisel down until it could go no farther (it hit into the edges of the two cylinders where they get closer together). Then we removed the chisel and put a washer against the head and the chisel next to the ears and tapped it in again. We kept repeating this using thicker washers until the heads finally came off. We didn't mess up the surface of the head or hurt the cylinders either so it worked well. The only problem now is that I have two cylinders that came off of the pistons in the process. I need to figure out how I can compress the rings to reinstall the cylinders. A normal ring compressor is used when sliding the piston down into the cylinder and just slides off when you get the piston down inside. I am going to be attempting the opposite, putting a cylinder over a piston and I figure they must make a tool to do this one but I have no idea what it would be called or how it would work.
