I've got the same E-Z Fill, and the same problem. There's sort of a little rubber flapper valve part way into the VW's water filler neck, and it seems to help if I try to jam the pointy part of the E-Z Fill between the little plastic struts that support the valve, thus jamming the valve partially open. At pretty low pressure, I can fill without much spilling, but I usually don't want to wait that long, so I end up putting the pressure all the way up and lettting some water run down the side.

I've seen something just like the E-Z Fill, but with a much narrower tube. I wonder if that would do the trick - perhaps it could slip past the valve and thus avoid the problem? (Don't remember where I saw it - I'll have to check a couple of catalogs.)
