Subject: rebuilt tranny slipping out of 4th gear
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com
Content-Type: text/plain

listees, the saga we all thought was ending continues...the transmission i've been waiting to be rebuilt is now finished and back in the van, but my mechanic just called to say that during the test drive it slipped out of fourth gear several times. he said that if, while in 4th gear, he eased up on the gas and then applied gas again, it'd pop out of 4th. he's going to check the linkage and other external stuff this afternoon and if that doesn't fix it, he'll have to take the tranny out again and dive back into it.

has anyone experienced this before with a rebuilt tranny? if so, is there anything i should tell my mechanic to look for?

thanks, all. susan stuck in durham, nc, ending week 4 of the vacation that never was...
