David.

I looked up the web site and from what I read they indicate that only the Passat, Scirocco, Jetta, Rabbit are affected.

The Vanagons carry the same parts ( more or less ) from the early air cooled models. Items such as seals, trim parts etc. I do not think we have to worry just yet. Besides we have got Ron and Jim and if those two buggers cannot get parts for the Vanagon mob then we will have to give the game away.

Just as an aside I keep reading of problems being experienced when fitting the generic O2 Sensor and in splicing the wires. Apparently it is a co-axial type cable and some seem the manage to earth all wires when splicing. At least that is the impression I get when reading the posts. Ok Ron and Jim how about having some one who is handy with a soldering iron make up an adapter to join the generic sensor to the VW wiring harness. Should not be too difficult. That way for a slight (?) price increase the job would remain simple ( following the K.I.S.S. principle ) and the drama of messing up the splicing job would be eliminated. The small problem of having another connection to fail or allow water in would be minimal after all we could wrap the connection in insulating tape or other material to prevent this.

Just a thought guys and gals what do you all think

Ray

From Penrith, just outside Sydney, Australia, thoughts come easy from standing on my head on the under side of the world.
