I have a friend in Alaska with a 91 Westy with a 5 speed tranny. Is it really that unusual? Her compliment on the tranny is that it is great on the highways in the Lower 48 but her complaint is that in Upper Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon Territory, and Alaska it is the pits. Geared to high and requires constant shifting. I understand this completely after having driven the Alaska Highway in my '85 GL.

I am thinking it is a typo, otherwise it is a unique vehicle in the US, and a great deal for that money. Cris.
