Hey Guys,

The A/C in my 86 GL has stopped blowing nice cool air and is now blowing room temperature air. I've checked the belt and I've made sure the radiator fan is going on when the compressor is running. The compressor is whining a little when it runs. Well anyway, since it is illegal for me to play with freon I have made an appointment with my mechanic to take a look and charge it up.

Questions: If the compressor needs to be rebuilt/replaced will I have to convert to the new R134a system? If so, what will this cost? If not, what will the price of a rebuilt R12 compressor be about?

TIA
