the best 12v horn i've found is the Dodge Ram tuck horn. but the damned Dodge dealers want $30 for it. :( it's not too high and doesn't sound like a vw ... it sounds like a truck. :)

i've tried the air horns and was not impressed. there's a delay while the compressor builds up speed, so by the time the horns blare out, the cretin idiot who cut you off has already forgotten you and is likely already gone. :(

what i WANT is an electronic horn. why not? if they can make a siren for the cops or ambulances, why not a 20W amplified horn? and i want the horn to sound like a freight train locomotive about to run over an 18-wheeler who is blowing his horn at a tug boat blocking the road!!!! :) either that or some discordant notes on the piano keyboard (when you hit two notes that just irritate your ears!!). :)

Hella and Bosch make some "super" horns, but the pair of them are about $60/kit. and the pitch/frequency is still about that of the vw horn ... not any lower ... so people don't seem to notice any better than with the normal horn.

i think the best thing to do is find a large american car or truck horn and use it. the sound is what people subconciously recognize as a "large american car or truck" and they react accordingly: soiling their seatcovers and so forth. :)

remember: if it sounds like a truck, people react as if it is a truck. if it sounds like a vw, people react as if it is a vw.
