A friend of mine without e-mail access is stuck in Hartford CT with a sick '85 Vanagon. Her water pump failed, and by the time she realized it her Vanagon had severely overheated on the highway. Now coolant is leaking out of the head gasket like a sieve. You know the story. Anyway, the gas station she broke down next to charged her $350 to replace the water pump, only to discover the more severe problem when they were done. If anyone knows of an honest and reasonably priced Vanagon repair specialist within reasonable towing distance of Hartford, please e-mail me ASAP; she'll be calling me tomorrow (Thursday) morning. I don't think having the gas station attempt the head gasket repair would be a very good idea at all.

Thanks, Ron Salmon The Bus Depot http://www.busdepot.com
