In case your tank problems are persisting- I had a similar problem on the 81 I used to have. Finally realized that the tank was clogging up. At one point I pulled the hose off the filter from the tank side and nothing came out. My solution was to keep a piece of tubing with me that fit into the fuel hose. When the problem arose I jammed the tube in and blew as hard as I could. Have to get your mouth off the tube very quickly or you'll be sorry. Certainly not a permanent fix, but enough to get you out of a jam- the problem left me stranded a couple of times before I figured it out. After blowing the tank usually didn't give me any trouble again for weeks to months.
