From my cousin, who was in the beer distribution business in the 70's-80's (he sold Stroh's, "the beer that makes you fart") I learned that Bud became as big as it was for one reason: You could get it anywhere, literally anywhere. After my sister's second year in Ireland, my mom and dad figured they'd take a trip to see the homeland. On the first night in, my dad got my mom settled in the hotel in the outskirts of Dublin, and took a walk. He was gonna go get a pint in a pub. He walked in the neighborhood place, and looked down the bar.
Every single man had a bottle Bud in front of him. These are sad times we live in ;) _________________________________________________________ Bob O'Shaughnessy, Columbus, OH vanagon@columbus.rr.com 85GL (awaiting Multivan interior) 74 Bus (Dad's) 72 Wife, 94 Rabbit, 95 Cat, 96 cat, 98 Kid |
