Subject: slow power window and high? coolant temp
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
First question- the power window on my passenger side goes down slow and
up really slow. I thought that it meant the motor was on the way out, but
it's been like this since I bought it (1.5 years) with no change. Never
fails to work, just alway slow. Any ideas on what would cause this?
Second question- My van since I've had it has always run with the needle
at about the very top of the light on the gauge- Judging from what others
have said this is about normal, though a bit higher than some who say dead
middle. Not a problem or a concern for me. This summer I've noticed that
driving long trips, especially during the day the needle is running higher,
maybe a needle-width above the light. I thought perhaps I just hadn't been
paying very close attention last year to the effect of summer temps and
A/C- This is my first water-cooled van so I'm still fairly new to all this.
In preparing for a trip from VA to CA in September I've been doing a lot of
preventative maintenance. Most recently I had the mechanic do a couple of
things including put in a new thermostat. I was going to have him send the
radiator off to be cleaned out, but he said that he looked inside it with a
mirror and that it looked really good so he wouldn't recommend having it
cleaned. I did have the system flushed about 6 months ago, and had read
that this sometimes causes junk to build up in the radiator. The main
reason for writing is that now, even around town, the bottom of the needle
is always just above the very top of the light. I'm not overheating or
getting a light on or anything, but it is definitely running hotter than it
used to. The fan seems to be working fine, the old thermostat was not low
temp, and I bled the system again and got only a tiny bit of air out.
Anybody have any ideas or suggestions on what I should check into? Does
this sound like something I should be working on? Thanks for any help or
suggestions.
