I purchased my storage box at the factory in Weidenbruck when we picked up our european delivery Westfalia (summer ‘82). The box is designed to hold a porta- potty and secures behind the passenger seat with leather straps similar to those used for the rubberized cloth storage bag which is mounted above the driver‘s cabin. There is a cutout in the side of the box for operating the flushing handle. I purchased the porta-potty at a nearby camping supply place that Mrs. Woods (she was the US/European delivery coordinator at Westfalia for many years) had directed me to. At the same time I purchased an awning, a small spare plastic gas/diesel can which cleanly fits inside the compartment to the left of the fridge, an umbrella (Westfalia markings) and a Vanagon Westfalia model miniature for my then 2 year old son. Good memories. Only the model has been lost over the years. Frank Grunthaner |
