Marcus - Can't remember. A high school friend of mine got a new one from the dealer in Naples, FL, in '66. It was the "station wagon" version, manual shift, and ACTUALLY ran well in wet weather! Honest-to-God, this "dealer" was a hardware-store in Naples! You know, the ole memory banks are firing up and I remember an article in Car & Driver(?), from the late 60's, featuring the replacement of the Jag XKE's twin-cam six with Pontiac's OHC 6cyl, for about the cost of a valve-job & re-ringing of the twin cam. Seems like one lost about 2 seconds from the twin-cam's 0-100mph time, gained about 5mpg and lost 10mph of top speed. Look at the current crop of British imports. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. At least the early British offerings offered some CLASS! BOB - WA4RRN - CHUHOI! |
