The main air circulation fan in my 1993 EV has four settings and suddenly the fan has stopped working in the first three positions. The fan will now only come on in the fourth and highest position. At that level it is really blasting, so for the fan is of limited use as it stands now. I checked the fuses (even though I doubted that as the cause since it will run in the one position) and it appears to be fine. I am having discomforting memories of some past postings on the list describing the maddening complexity of replacing the fan on a vanagon. Anyone have any clue what might be causing this--short of a bad fan? And if the fan needs to be replaced, has anyone had experience with this problem on the EV? Don >> Don, what you need is the series resistor pack right by the fan motor behind the glove box. It's a easy fix. I dought there's anything wrong with the fan switch. Buy one at the dealer and install it yourself. Lets us know when it's fixed. Michael Modl 87 syncro. |
