Hi Volks,

This morning towards the end of my commute my van suddenly began revving itself up when I disengaged the clutch or sat in neutral.

It peaks at about 4000 rpm, then settles down again. VROOOM, settle, VROOOM, settle, VROOOM, settle, you get the idea.

I confirmed that my sandal wasn't caught on the accelerator pedal, causing the revving. Pretty wacky, as if Dr. Loveless was in the bushes with a remote control, trying to force me into the intersection. If they're really out to get you, it's not paranoia.

It has had a steady high idle in the winter, that always goes to normal once operating temperature is achieved.

I cruised the archives, but didn't find reference to the symptoms I experienced this morning.

I'd be grateful for any advice. Wish me luck on the drive home.

Cheers, Chris Wyatt '87 Syncro GL Fairbanks, Alaska
