Not for the fan, but for the injection system. I needed about 4 more inches above the deck height, all within the boundaries of the lid, so I just made a lid with a plateau in the middle. If you use the newer, even more expensive 3.2 liter (82->, I think) engine, it will fit under the stock deck and lid, so a westy mattress can lie flat.
