I've searched the archived but found nothing specific on this.

My 91 Syncro (Westy) fuel sending unit metal leads (to connect to the wires to the gas gauge) have completely rusted off.

Is there a "fix" for this?? or do I have to buy a new sending unit??

Any tricks for taking the old sending unit out and installing the new one?? It looks straight forward (my mechanic has the Bentley manual).

Anything I should do to the tank (flush it?) while I have the sending unit out??

Thanks, Malcolm S
