There is three ways to get a foreign car in to Canada.

1 - U.S.A. 2 - Military - soldiers are allowed to take their car and come back with what they like 3 - People immigrating - there is a VW Polo that is owned by a friend of mine. He bought it off of some Spanish fellow.

Personally if I were to import a car I would get something unique like the Syncro Golf County or the Syncro Rallye Golf, VW LT Camper or a 16" Syncro Caravelle
