Subject: Trying to re-fix my starter

Well after attempting to replace the starter relay myself, I have completely given up on fixing the infamous starting bug. Now, I would like to bring it back to what it was when the relay was not in place.

The starter has two terminals, 30 and 50. T30 has two cables attached to it and T50 has one. From what I understand, the ignition cable is a red/black cable and it goes to T50. T30 has two red cables, one comes directly from the battery but I don't know where the other goes. This brings me to the next question, which cables within the ignition switch harness handle the starter? My switch has about 5 wires but the ones I am curious about are three: 1 thick red wire and 2 red/black wires going into the same hole.

I guess what I am looking for a wiring break down for the ignition switch and starter so that I can begin testing cables. I have this desire to have a normal starting van one day instead of using the door bell button setup I have right now.

My goal is to eventually wire in a relay once I can confirm everything is working well.

Thanks, Nate El Great 85 GL, 186k miles with door bell starter
