Does it exist? I won't get into the spritual side of the question.

But... Once upon a time VW's were strange cars. They were air cooled, had torsion bar suspension and really good paint jobs. It seem like some parts were overdesigned and never went bad and the few parts that did go bad were upgraded in a few years by the factory. After a while they were "bullit proof". And when they failed it was a slow gracefull process. You could tell by the sound that something was going bad but you had time to fix it befor it really broke. Life was good.

Then VW "killed" all the air cooled cars and vans. Many parts were allowed to be released to the aftermarket. "Dealer only part" was something we never heard. Life got better.

You could get cheap & good parts almost anywhere. If your VW broke down you could scramble up some parts nearby.

Many of us of the tinkerer race (you can tell us by the grease under our nails and the spare parts in our pockets) became owned by these machines. They would take us anywhere, any time and sometimes seemed to know where to break down.
