     Bob Hoover has a bit about painting engines (and air cooled jugs)
flat black.  He sez that it actually helps dissipate heat.

     Don't most engine rebuilders paint finished blocks?  I know mine was
(and still is) a nice alluminum color from having its bottom end done.
