dave's right. and, he's not the first person to say this. i wasn't trying to sound negative about vws or my van, it's only the disappointment of losing half my vacation coming through.

and, you know, i think my van sensed that i had unfinished business here in durham. 'cause in these five weeks, i've been able to become better friends with former acquaintences, work out a somewhat tricky relationship, finish my grad school paperwork, participate in a funky NASA experiment at nearby duke university, read, surf the net and do other good stuff. my hostess for the past five weeks keeps telling me there's a reason for everything. she may be right.
