Talked to the long-term mechanic who has been working on the bus. Asked me how
I thought the trans shifted.

"Real smooth" I answered.

He said PO spent almost $2,000 3 or 4 years ago on complete rebuild of trans,
clutch and clutch cylinders. 4th gear had gone out and he replaced all worn
parts. He said the selling price started out at $3,200 when the Dad tried to
sell it after buying the 85 automatic and he couldn't stand selling it for
less after spending so much on it.

He said "for $2K it's a bargain."  He's sent several people to look at it but
they were put off by the chocolate exterior color and the surface rust. "Now
you know you can touch up the paint with an airbrush." He also said the click
was bound to be a lifter and could take as much as an hour of running to pump
back up after sitting for a week or two.

Looks like my son and I will go waive some $100 dollar bills tonight.

P.S. Someone posted the bus had an icebox not a fridge. This thing has a
front-loading fridge. If you put ice in it, it will fall out when you go
'round a corner!
