GM bully said, <a bum o2 sensor can cause a VERY rich mixture, ruining the catalytic converter, and possibly burning valves, or causing other BIG problems.>

Hi, the maintenance thread just gave me the last piece to my engine problem puzzel. I bought the van with 96 K and the oxs light on (never replaced it). never had trouble until I clogged up the cat at 136 K, thus ruining it. another month or so later I noticed power loss . the power loss is hardly noticable, but I can notice. Now I burn a little oil no smoke or anything. the compresion is 137.5, 120, 185, 162.

with oil, the left readings are 162.5, 144.

I guess my question to you is what are those other really bad things that happen with out the sensor, that you did not mention.

and

if you or anyone else could tell me the best approach to fixing my engine. and how long will it still run relativly well as is (now have o2 sensor). I am going to drive from coast to coast in a matter of months.

thanks alot seth gordon 84 WLE
