Hi all,


I will be flying out to San Diego to look at a 90 Vanagon in a couple of
weeks.  Does anyone know a good VW mechanic that can look it over before I
hand over the cash?  One that, oh I hope I hope, will do it on a Saturday?
Failing that, a regular weekday mechanic will do.


Also, how do you tell if a 90 Vanagon is a Base, GL, etc?  I am a
super-newbie, and I am confused as yet by the distinctions.  Lastly, what
is a fair price for the 90 if it is in good condition (assuming it does not
have a lot of bells, whistles, or working AC)?
