After putting in TD motors I have changed the trannys in a couple of Diesel Vanagons to the aircooled models to get higher overall gearing. It seems a waste to discard a good working trans just because the r+p is too low. Can any trans experts on the list tell me if it would be possible to put the ring and pinion set from a blown 86 waterboxer trans into the 82 Diesel trans? If so, what might it cost for the labor to have it done?
