Better thermal efficiency? You mean better gas milage? It's a high compression golf motor, so should be quite a bit more "thermally" efficient as higher CR motors are more efficient. You can also beat the hell out it and still expect to see 200k miles from it. Did I mention it's a golf motor? You know, the engine VW was supposed to use in the first place? It took somebody this long to build a kit? Any reason all the vanagons being built overseas are using motor or derivatives? Because its the best choice. > Lower cost? In the long run. > Does it work with an automatic transmission? KEP makes an adapter for auto trans, I believe a test vehicle was equipped with auto. > Does it require mods to the engine compartment lid? Don't think so. Motor is 2.0 non-crossflow, so no intake interference. > > Anyone who has read the European Car magazine article willing > to post the Good/Bad/Ugly details? As usual, EC didn't post any details. From the photos, looks like KEP adapter plate and flywheel are used. I can scan pics from mag if anyone interested. Is that legal? |
