Ron If your shifting was good in the past then forget the linkage.It doesn't go out of adjustment.Look for dry white mos grease on the shifter ball and replace with fresh grease.Using a 17 mm allen type wrench check trans fluid, if you have to add a pint or more then it's possible the case on the trans where the shifter arm goes in is worn.One other thing to check.on the floor where the big rubber boot cover the shifter.Make sure the two blank holes line up.Look at it and you will see what I mean.BTDT and the trans job was $1100 Marcus
