This is getting interesting.

Sounds like I could "push" my vehicles a tad more!, but from your description it seems like you've "invested" a lot to prepare them for the the work-out you give them.

My take-home message, is that without the "investment" (beyond "stock" maintenance, repairs, rebuilds), one can get a lot of life and use out of their VW's, if they're not pushed to the limit everytime they are driven.

There's also the issue ... they aren't new CARS ... no matter what we put into them. And driving them like the former, we also risk lossing our beloved to accidents (regardless of whose at fault ... and your non-EuroVan VW is a NON-RENEWABLE resource!)

I'm inclined to be more careful and keep as many VW's on the road as we can. What was that saying ... "the meek shall inherit the earth ..."
