Hi all, here's some potential information on LED/LCD displays.  I've
thought about instrumentation for some time now, even had a complete
Volt/Amp/gauges top of the dash display designed once, just didn't have the
fibreglass skills to duplicate the dash, with another unit on top of the
dash kinda thing.

And since the recent unsettling "downsizing" 2 1/2 months ago, I have
another full time job to take care of.  oh well.  carry on.

Here's some possible useful info.

Intersil makes a number of A/D converter display kits.  Along with that,
there are a number of design app notes that are applicable.  If you want me
to provide a copy of some of the information I have, send me an e-mail with
your snail mail address, and I'll make a copy.  The information is a bit
old, but may still be valid.  There may even be equivalent more current
kits available.  I haven't checked.  Following is a list:

1. Ap Note A023. Low cost digital meter deisgns including complete
instructions.
2. Ap Note A046. Building a battery operated autoranging DVM with the ICL7106.
3. Ap Note A052. ips for using  Single Chip 3 1/2 digit A/D Converters.

4. ICL7106EV/KIT - ICL7107EV/KIT      3 1/2 digit LCD/LED eval kit with
card, display, components stc.

5. ICL7136EV/KIT      Low Power 3 1/2 digit LCD eval kit with card,
display, components stc.

6. ICL7116EV/KIT - ICL7117EV/KIT      3 1/2 digit w/ display hold LCD/LED
eval kit with card, display, components stc.

I did a quick check for "INTERSIL"  must be something else now.  ahhh, here
it is, Intersil seems to be HARRIS now, and the kits seem to be listed
under the same part number.  ahh. start here for information:  (Sorry for
