I took the heater panel out before. Price: one broker levels. Worse: VW dealer doesn't have the same type of level available. You need to pull the fan knob and 4 levels out (don't remember you need to take 2 philip screws (hidden behind the panel) out or not) to get the control panel out. But the levels are so tight which you may break it easily. WD-40 won't help too much since it's plastic. For rear heater panel just pull the fan knob and pry the panel out carefully. But then again I can't get the replacement bulb from the VW dealer. The one they sell was too big too fit in.

Please respond to Jess Lopatynski <Jess_Lopatynski@COMPUSERVE.COM> To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM cc: Subject: instument panel lamps

Any advice about changing burnt out instrument panel lamps on my 87 Vanagon? specifically the heater control panel. It doesn't just pop off like my 85 GTI does and I 'm afraid to apply much force. Bentley has no details on this. Thanks Jess Lopatynski Riverside ,CA
