I don't know about a mechanic specifically for vanagons. There are a
couple of VW dealerships around here where I get my routine jetta work
done, including Metro Volkswagon/Audi on Kettner and Grape (their phone #
should be in the yellow pages if you visit S.D.), but I can't guarantee
they work on Vanagons... I can get you that phone # by tomorrow; I don't
have it with me at school. Because it is a dealership, it may be a bit
pricey. But their work is very good.
Another option might be to email this one guy Vic Ahmed, at Z & S inc. in
anaheim california (hour north of S.D.) His email address is
IndianVic@aol.com. He specializes in used VW sales, so he might be ableto
hook you up with one of his Southern California buddies who checks
vanagons out for him. As long as you let him know you are NOT interested
in buying a car, just in a mechanic, hopefully he will be straight with
you.
