Joel, et al, Many years ago, when the Westfalia was young and the gas crisis hit, I drove to San Diego and had a extra gas tank mounted. It runs from the rear frame rail just ahead of the rear wheel to the front frame rail just behind the front wheel. This is mounted on the passenger side and goes from the side frame rail to the sill of the sliding door. The little company selling the tank took about four hours for installation, and cut and welded a 1.5 inch diameter tube into the side and bottom of the main tank. They also plumbed in two small hoses with couplings to route the fuel from the main tank through this saddle tank. Never had a problem with it since. Loved the 700 mile range between gas station brawls at the time. Frank Grunthaner |
